I just came across
this collection of photos of Eastern Germany taken around the time the Wall fell and then years later, after the buildings had been renovated. The contrast is stark, and I can tell you from personal visits that they are not exaggerated exceptions – this is what has happened to eastern Germany over the past 20 years.
They need a translator on number 18.

ReplyDeleteVery cool collection of photos! I remember what it looked like just as the Wall fell. I was studying in Salzburg that year. I visited Berlin in February and June 1990 and remember being impressed by the changes even in that small time frame. Thanks for sharing these, Craig!
